One of the recently launched gadgets I’ve been loving is the Philips VisaPure Facial Cleansing Brush. According to Philips, this brush is supposed to be ten times more effective than cleansing by hand. I’ve been using the Clarisonic for the last few months so I was actually quite excited to try this and see how it compared.
I was quite surprised when I opened the box to see two brush heads provided – normal and sensitive. As you know my skin is quite sensitive so I immediately put on the sensitive brush (still haven’t tried the normal brush). The unit has two settings – gentle and deep. I’ve been using the first and second setting interchangeably. I use this every second day with my Shiseido cleanser and my face has been feeling pretty darn good. I always remove my makeup first with my Shu Uemura oil cleanser and then use the cleansing brush to remove any excess makeup.
The stand has two main purposes:
- Charging the cleansing brush
- Storage stand to help the brush dry quicker (hangs upside down)
The cleansing brush is completely waterproof, so you can take it into the shower no problem. I rarely wash my face in the shower so I always use it over the sink. I prefer this brush head over the Clarisonic because it is considerably smaller and can reach places which are harder to get to.
The cleansing cycle timer is set to one minute, after one minute the device will switch off. This is to prevent over cleansing. The battery life is pretty good. I charged it overnight when I first got it and have been using it ever since without having to recharge it yet. Per one charge, you should be able to use it 30 times (1 min intervals). The Philips VisaPure facial cleansing brush retails for $199 and is available at The Shaver Shop.

Woo hoo, almost mid week!! Such a relief that the cool change rocked up a few days ago. It was starting to feel like the heat would never go away. I would look at the weather forecast and everyday would be like 30+. What a drainer!! I was sent the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray for trial, I have been using it for around 2 weeks now and I thought it’s time for a review. The Benefit Stay Don’t Stray is an eye primer which can be used on the eyelids and under the eye. I recently reviewed Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer which did crease in hot weather after a few hours. During the 8 day hot streak we had in Melbourne, I used this product everyday and not one day did it crease in the hot weather. Pretty impressive hey? I was pretty surprised myself. My face would be sliding off but my eyeshadow remained and still looked quite lovely by the end of the day. It does deliver on its claim!
Stay-put primer for concealers & eyeshadows. This dual-action power primer works 360° around the eyes to make concealers and eyeshadows stay put! Concealers don’t crease, eyeshadows stay vibrant and true… you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!
The packaging is a 10ml pump tube. A pump applicator is great for hygiene. If you do end up buying this, make sure you don’t press too hard. My first few times, I pressed all the way down and wasted so much product. I believe tge new packaging for this primer is a “dip & dab” wand for easier application.
What I like about this primer:
- Lasts all day and I have not experienced any creasing
- Works great with eyeshadows
- Matt finish
- Applies smoothly
- Comes in two tones, light/medium and medium/deep
This is a great eyeshadow primer. I am really enjoying not having any creases. Having said that, I don’t really use this under the eyes. I find that it settles in the corner creases, making it look like I have wrinkly eyes. This primer retails for $45 and is available at Benefit counters.
Have you tried this Benefit primer?
This product was sent to me for review purposes, this has not influenced my opinion. It really didn’t crease!!
Look what landed on my desk? Nivea Lip Butters!!! I was sent both the unscented and caramel cream for trial. These lip butters are fantastic, sooo moisturising and the packaging is just adorable. The product is not too heavy so it’s great for the hot weather (Melbourne I’m looking at you). I still can’t believe it’s autumn and the heat won’t go away.
NIVEA Lip Butters are formulated with NIVEA’s own Hydra IQ deep moisture technology. Hydra IQ naturally hydrates skin from within as well as on the surface, meaning NIVEA Lip Butters work harder to restore and maintain soft and healthy lips. In addition, shea butter, which is rich in vitamins, protects the sensitive skin of the lips against the elements. The addition of mild almond oil with vitamin E help to condition and calm even very dry skin for unique and long-lasting softness.
What I like about the Nivea Lip Butters:
- I like to use this under my lippies
- Creamy but not greasey, sticky or tacky
- Smells heavenly and moisturising
- Lips feel softer and soothed
- Caramel cream smells amazing, makes me want to scoop it up and eat it
- Amazing price!!
There are 3 flavours available in Australia: Unscented, Vanilla & Macadamia and Caramel Cream. I believe there is an extra flavour called Raspberry Rosé Kiss available overseas. The only bad thing I can say about this product is the packaging. Some might say it is unsanitary, but then again the product wouldn’t be the same in a tube. I’m probably going to get a lip brush to use with my lip butter, that way I don’t have to wash my hands every time I use it. The price of the Nivea Lip Butters are $5.19, pretty amazing hey?? These will be available mid March at supermarkets and selected pharmacies.
Will you be trying the new Nivea Lip Butters?
I was sent both the Nivea Lip Butters for trial, this has not influenced my opinion.
