Make Up For Ever HD powder

I hope everyone has been staying cool because tomorrow is going to be a scorching 41 degrees in Melbourne!! Drink plenty of fluids and use sunscreen if you are heading out!

I have been using Make Up For Ever’s HD powder for the last two weeks. I’m a big fan of setting powders. I purchased this at IMATS last year during one of those random spending moments I occasionally suffer from. There has been a lot of mixed reviews about this setting powder. Personally, I think it’s quite good and does what it’s supposed to do.
Makeup forever HD powderAccording to MUFE “The HD Powder is a unique, extremely fine powder available in one universal shade to make the skin absolutely radiant. It sets the foundation and matifies the skin without changing its natural contours. Consisting of mineral silica powder, its talc-free formula is non-drying. Its universal translucent shade matches all skin tones. The HD Powder can be worn alone or applied over foundation“.

What I like about the Make Up For Ever HD Powder:

  • The powder itself feels very silky, fine & lightweight.
  • Sets makeup well and matifies skin.
  • Did not cause me to break out.
  • Talc free – I was reading that talc can cause irritation and dryness because it absorbs moister from the skin. So it’s better to pick products that are talc free.

It is important to note that this is a silica powder which means that it will reflect white in flash photography. The Make Up For Ever HD powder retails for $48, a bit on the pricey side in my opinion. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, I have used Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder which achieved the same results for a quarter of the price.

Have you tried Make Up For Ever HD powder?

I purchased this myself at IMATS last year.

This is such a raved about product! Glad it did work but it is pricey! I’d want to go for something cheaper! I’ve only tried their aqua eyes eyeliners but I’d love to try a foundation from them!

Sharlynn, yep agree. It’s great but it’s not that amazing where I would pay that much for it. I’ve tried their HD foundation and also did a review on it. It’s good if you have normal to combination skin. My skin is a little dry for it.

Totally agree Angela, Australia and Face of Australia (both australian brands) work wonders as an alternative.

There is one Make up forever store in London but I’ve never bought anything from there yet! Like the look of this.

It does hide pores pretty well but yes definitely not good if you use a lot of powder and take photos lol

I really love this Makeup Forever product although I do agree that it is a bit too much on the pricey side and that’s the main reason that I never ended up repurchasing it either.
    Great review :)

I haven’t tried this powder before and I have only recently delved into the world of powders (having dry skin I am always wary of looking dry and flaky). This powder sounds lovely although I don’t think I would want to pay that much for it!

Nice review hun! I haven’t tried this particular powder but I like the idea of setting powders especially in this Aussie heat at the moment!

I was really into loose powders 2 years back (started with the Natio one which I remember to be quite good) and then stopped using it because I decided that I really like the dewy face look.

I’m thinking of getting back on the bandwagon – thanks for the Australis rec. Have you tried the Rimmel Stay Matte powder?

I almost bought this at IMATS in that set they had on offer, but I have the Australis one at home so didn’t do it. I love the Face of Australia translucent powder, so much powder and so cheap! The Australis one is a much better size to travel with though.

I agree, I love both the FOA and Australis powders. They work really well. I don’t feel and see a difference when I use a cheaper alternative.
