Winter Skin Care and Giveaway

How cold has it been in Melbourne lately? Lucky for me, I have two weeks off work but I can still feel the icy cold winds when I’m walking to the gym at night. The harsh cold weather really dries out the skin so today I’m going to show you what I use to keep my skin hydrated.

Moisturiser – At night, I use a thicker and more rich moisturiser to help give that extra bit of hydration. A good moisturiser will absorb quickly and doesn’t feel heavy. I wake up with smooth refreshed skin.

Rosehip Oil – There are many benefits of using rosehip oil such as diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as improving skin elasticity and texture. I mainly use rosehip oil in winter as it can really help with dry skin and evening out my skintone.

Eye cream – It’s amazing no matter how many hours you sleep in winter, it’s always a struggle to wake up. That’s why in the cooler months, I switch to an eye cream that helps with dark circles.

Face masks – I use plenty of face masks in winter. It helps to give you that extra boost your skin needs. Plus, it’s always quite relaxing doing a face mask while watching your favourite youtuber.

Body Conditioner – Have you ever got out of the shower with super tight skin? I have! To prevent that from happening, I like to slather body conditioner all over my body and rinse it off before getting out of the shower. A body conditioner will leave your skin smooth and sliky, definitely a treat for your skin.

Body Moisturiser – After the body conditioner, I then moisturise my skin with body cream for dry skin.

Hand Cream – Especially in winter, I always carry a hand cream around in my bag. As I mentioned in my other post, my knuckles would crack and it gets quite painful.

winter skin care lips

Lips – People with dry lips such as myself always ensure we carry at least one lip balm around in our bags or at our work desk. Carmex is a winter must have product because it’s known for it’s deep moisturising benefits. I still remember the first time I used the original Carmex lip balm – I got the famous ‘Carmex tingle’, it really feels like it’s working magic.

My Skincare Routine

Happy Tuesday everyone!!! Today I thought I would share my skincare routine. I’ve always talked about makeup or hair care but never really went into detail about skincare. I’ve been using the products in the photos for the last 3 months. These photos were taken 2 months ago and my genifique has now finished.

my current skincare routine my current skincare routine

Shiseido The Skincare Purifying Cleansing Foam – I’ve been using this cleanser on and off for about 5 or 6 years. When I was over in the US last year, the lady at the Shiseido counter told me that they are discontinuing The Skincare range and will be replacing with the Ibuki range. I was quite disappointed to hear my all time favourite cleanser has been discontinued. This cleanser really cleans your face, without stripping away your natural oils or causing any dryness. I use this day and night. If I use foundation on a particular day, I would use my oil cleanser first and then use this to remove any residual makeup.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +* – Last year Clinique came up with a new formula for the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion and added a plus to it. During my uni days, I did try Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion but found it to be not moisturising enough for my skin. I was a little sceptical when I was trying the new plus version. After using it for 3 months now, I can tell you that this new plus version is perfect for people who have drier skin and is in need of more hydration. It has a nice texture to use underneath makeup and is surprisingly lightweight.

Shiseido Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Enriched  – For night-time, I usually like to use a cream that is thicker and super moisturising. I randomly bought this moisturiser in Sephora last year without reading any reviews or anything. I would have to say this is one of my best random purchases I’ve made in a long time. This moisturiser is slightly thicker but absorbs really quick and doesn’t feel heavy. I wake up with really smooth glowy skin.

Lancome Advanced Genifique – I use the Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate twice a day (day & night). I found after using this for a few days, the results were quite impressive and made my skin looked so much better. The biggest difference I’ve noticed is how much it brightens my complexion. The serum is quite light and a small pea-size distributed by the dropper is sufficient for the entire face and neck.

Lancome Visionnaire – I’ve been using Visionnaire for about 4 months now and I haven’t really noticed any difference with my skin. I spoke to the Lancome lady at David Jones and she told me it’s also to help prevent wrinkles so totally ok if I don’t notice anything right now.

Lancome DreamTone – I have quite a bit of scarring and uneven skintone on my right cheek. Ever since using DreamTone, I have noticed that the scarring has started to fade. Three months later, it’s barely noticeable now. I used to get those really big deep acne that ends up leaving a horrible red patch.

I use these products in the following order:

Morning

  • Shiseido The Skincare Purifying Cleansing Foam
  • Lancome Advanced Genifique
  • Lancome DreamTone
  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +
  • Shiseido Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream – Not in the photos above, I’ve just recently started using this eye cream.

Night

  • Shiseido The Skincare Purifying Cleansing Foam
  • Lancome Advanced Genifique
  • Lancome Visionnaire
  • Shiseido Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Enriched
  • Shiseido Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream

2013 Favourite Beauty Products

2013 favourite beauty products 2013 favourite beauty products

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!! Today I’m going to share a round up of my 2013 favourite beauty products. Some of these products I’ve used all year and some just recently made it on to my list.

  • Urban Decay Naked Palette 1 & 2 – I purchased the Naked Palette 1 & 2 back in November 2012. I’m still using both palettes every week. They are travel friendly and very versatile palettes. I haven’t purchased the NP3 yet but hoping to do so after the New Year.
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light – This is the ultimate powder, nothing else compares to it. I recently purchased this in the US. The ambient lighting powder is a finishing power that also helps blur imperfections. It actually made my pores less visible!
  • Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner – Best eyeliner I’ve used in a long time! Stays on all day, doesn’t feather and no smudging!
  • NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Punjab* – This foundation received so much positive reviews on blogs and YouTube so I had to try it myself. It has turned into my favourite foundation as it completely covers up my redness and lasts all day long. Although the foundation says sheer, it is medium coverage. Only downside is that it doesn’t come with a pump which has to be purchased separately.
  • NARS Blush in Orgasm* – I wrote about NARS Orgasm Blush in June and I’m still loving it to this day. It is a beautiful peachy pink colour with golden shimmers.
  • Lancome Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate – I purchased the Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate when I was in the US. At the time, I had really dry flaky skin. The lady at the Lancome counter recommended me this to incorporate into my skin care routine. First day I used it, my skin felt smoother (so that was a good sign). Progressively throughout the week my skin felt clearer and brighter. This serum is quite expensive, but really worth it.
  • Dermalogica Microfoliant – I shared a post on the Dermalogica Microfoliant at the start of the year. My skin is still loving this microfoliant, I haven’t tried anything else.
  • Shiseido The Skincare Eye & Lip Makeup Remover – This is by far my most loved eye & lip makeup remover. I’m sad as it’s nearing the end of the bottle and I won’t be buying another one until I’ve finished a few other makeup removers sitting in my beauty cabinet.

What are your 2013 favourite beauty products?

Products marked with * was purchased using a gift card won through instagram. All other products were purchased with my own money.
